A Door into Summer Painting

I began this work using one of Max Ernst's techniques that used paint on a glass plate to create abstract shapes on a canvas, which can then suggest new images. The textures that emerged had no preferred orientation, so I painted different backgrounds above and below. The resulting image fits my science fiction sensibility for imagining doorways or portals to other dimensions. Referencing Robert A. Heinlein's classic masterpiece for a title seemed a good way to render homage to this influential story teller.
