Here is a Encaustic mixed media painting I have been working on for the last month. This was more difficult for it incorporates several mediums, Wax, Oil Paint, India Ink, and Petrified Wood. This is a one of a kind original mixed media painting on 18 X 24 Birchwood panel, primed for encaustic art. Unframed. I love the 3D effect on beach of the rocks, and the ocean washing up on beach. I really like the waves and motion of the water, as it moves towards the petrified beach. I call this picture "A-Frame". A-Frame A perfect peak, with a left and a right-hander breaking at either side. The name comes from the fact that the wave is A shaped. On such waves, the surfer has the option of going both ways or even taking off behind the peak or backdooring the wave. The rock used on beach was from my Arizonia rock collection. Petrified wood is the name given to wood that has been turned into stone (fossilized) through the process of permineralization. All of the organic matter becomes replaced by minerals, while much of the original structure such as tree rings in retained. For this to happen the wood needs to be buried in an environment both low in oxygen (preventing decomposition) and with flowing, mineral-laden water. The coloration is due to the various minerals that are present during fossilization. For example red colors are due to iron compounds, greens due to copper, etc. A painting that depicts the beauty of the ocean, and incorporates things from nature. A-Frame

My art is a reflection of things that inspire me, and bring joy to everyday life faith, nature, abstract, portraits. My style is Expressionism, Modern, and figurative. I enjoy painting wildlife, fish, underwater scenes, faith paintings, and angels. When I paint angels I get a sense of peace and serenity. The underwater scenes are inspired by 30 years of scuba. I also paint wildlife for I am out in the Colorado mountains quite often. My other works can be found at my website he mediums that I use are Oil, Watercolor, Encaustic, and Pen & Ink. The Mixed Media paintings incorporate things from nature such as petrified wood, lapis, sea shells and other stones. I retain all reproduction rights on images, artwork, and original paintings. You can find some of my paintings on display at the Brighton, Co. "Color of Love" art display at Brighton City Hall Sept -Jan.2020. The Littleton Fine Arts Museum Nov-Dec. 2019, 2020. Artist Statement: Those who speak in spiritual terms routinely refer to God as creator but seldom see ‘creator’ as the literal term for ‘artist’. I am suggesting you take the term ‘creator’ quite literally. You are seeking to forge a creative alliance, artist-to-artist, with the Great Creator God. Personal Statement: I believe we are all stewards of our planet; each individual should do whatever they can to preserve our wildlife, ocean, forests and air. Stand up for your beliefs, and focus on the positive things in life. Life is short, use your time wisely. Love, Laugh, make new friends, and enjoy Art!
