About The Artwork
I have been living in Iceland for over a year now and also here I create my paintings. I decided to devote some of my paintings to Iceland. "A lighthouse in Grindavik", oil, acrylic on canvas, 2020 This painting comes from a series of a few artworks which I created in Iceland in 2019-2020. The subject is the Icelandic landscape, which had been previously registered in the lens of my camera.The paintings were created on the basis of my photos, which I had made during a trip around Iceland. While painting, I tried to capture the specific climate of Iceland. I wanted to show the atmosphere of emptiness, loneliness, and to present the vast spaces of this beautiful but at the same time raw land. I had the pleasure to exhibit these paintings as part of the Com'on collective exhibition at SIM Residency in Reykjavik, along with other artists from Poland, Lithuania and Iceland.

Seweryn Chwała is a Polish artist born 21.12.1981 in Lublin. In 2002 -2007 he was studying Painting in the Fine Arts Department at Marie Curie- Skłodowska University. He has worked as a lecturer and an Art/Street Art teacher with adults, teenegers and children in schools and community centres in Lublin. He is not only a well established painter but also a graffiti and mural writer. His artistic interests include realism, photorealism, abstraction, and pop-art. He is a member of Lublin Artists' Associateion 'Otwarta Pracownia'. I live currently in Iceland (Reykianesbaer) and I also create here my paintings.
