About The Artwork

This nature art is from a scene in the Texas Hill Country near Blanco. I came across it when returning from an end of life celebration for a loved one. Shortly after that, my Aunt Patsy Dolliver passed away. She was the driving force behind my interest and passion for art, and we spent many hours painting together. She was an oil painter under the name of von. Every painting, for the rest of my life, will have von somewhere on its face as my way of acknowledging my appreciation for her contributions to my art. Green is the predominant color, and there are many shades ranging from forest green to bright yellow green. The deep shadows are blue and green-black. The sunlight falling on the road is emphasized with shades of yellow, gold, and orange. The painting is done in an impressionist style. The painting was created with Liquitex Heavy Body Acrylic and archival ink. It is finished with Liquitex Gloss Medium and Varnish. A hanging wire is attached, and the edges are painted so that it is ready to hang. It is signed. A certificate of authenticity is included.

I am a Texas artist and have painted for most of my 71 years, being from a family of artists. My mother's youngest sister, aunt Patsy, spent a lot of time with me, guiding and encouraging me, and I credit her for my passion for art. She painted under the name of "von." When she died in August of 2018, I began placing "von" somewhere on the face of each painting as an acknowledgment of her role in my artistic endeavors. My inspirations come from my home environment in Texas. Things that I have taken for granted all my life are now frequent subjects for art. Mesquites, cactus, old barns and shacks, windmills, wooden fence posts, wildflowers and the like are favorite subjects. I am a colorist, and I enjoy using color to give new life to otherwise fading beauty. In addition to color, I strive for dimension, movement, depth and unusual perspective.
