The time of night is fascinating. The noisy times change naturally with time of deep thought. In a time when infinite imagination is not ashamed, we dream and talk about hope. So we comfort ourselves and heal the day we were exhausted.

South Korea
Kim HyunAh's paintings are known for their warmth and friendliness-looking at them one is reminded of illustrations from children's books. The positive outlook of her work and love of place and life are apparent in the images she chooses : in one work a street scene takes center stage, with its red and blue rooftops, sunflowers blossoming along the street, and puppies playing. This comfortable and sentimental village landscape is in stark contrast with the busy, "gray" life of the city. The artist presents us with a village in which we would have all liked to play as children, imbuing it with a fairy tale quality. Formal perspective is set aside here in favor of simple, flat composition and bold colors which combine to present an affection-ate scene of an ideal place. Artist’s Statement_ KIM Hyun-a When awakened, I open the window and look over the world. Then, the scenery becomes a picture and my day begins with it. Feeling curious while on the bus going through alleys, Looking back my days while walking through a road with winding turns, Stepping up and down stairs, I swear myself to make a better today, Closing and opening the door, I soothe my painful heart. We can’t live alone. While confronting and getting hurt by people, we are erased and drawn again. In the world I am also being drawn. And repeatedly I am being erased and drawn. I could be a precious existence being placed in the center of someone’s paint, But, I also could be an existence being erased easily by someone, And I could be a window to the world to someone, But, I could be a small brick consisting of a wall to another. Turning around the corner, what kind of house I will meet….. After making another turn, who I will encounter……… In the town like a labyrinth, Whether I come to find a way or end up wandering around…… In that way, my life and days are being drawn on canvas. My paintings are like a picture diary to me. Emotions I feel everyday and sceneries remained in my memory are expressed on canvas. We can’t live alone. We are erased and drawn repeatedly while confronting and getting hurt by people. Through my works, I want to show the story of mine and people. I imagine of our lives living in familiar scenery and connect the small scraps of my imagination piece by piece. If watching the town we live in, doesn’t it look like small pieces? As a work is completed by a myriad of repetitions, our lives go through the same procedure.
