ABSTRACT DREAM Abstract is exactly the phrase that comes to mind when I try to describe some of my dreams. My dreams usually don’t have remarkable story lines, they are loose strings of impressions, feelings and moments. But some of them are really abstract. I mean they are not visual and there are no persons or entities acting in them. Just my mind in a substance that consists of pure thoughts and repeating patterns. Similarly to another answer, I often have to think hard during these dreams. My mind takes a grasp on an indescribable problem and manufactures plans to solve it. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and it takes a minute or two to realize that it’s not a real problem and I don’t have to solve it at all. This recognition usually breaks the loop and I sleep back. Other times I dream with logical or programming problems and I seem to get to the solution. If I had to describe it, I would say “it goes well, the pieces finally fit together”. It’s not a final point but a continuous process. It’s rather peaceful, like knitting according to a specific pattern. In the morning I wish I could remember the formulas and rules I have found but they always fade away as I ascend to daytime consciousness. It’s like trying to bring bubbles to the surface of water.
