About The Artwork

My artistic statement is a reflexion about colors , effects and surface . I'm very near Eugène Leroy painter, this painter who worked the material for weeks and months by painting, and SUPPORT/SURFACE french painters, or english painters. There , were are near Sonia Delaunay and the Orphislme. The painting is varnish to protect the surface. It is better to put a frame to protect the edges. Are the edges painted. I'm referenced in akoun catalogue. I work on impulse, as soon as an object falls under my hand, whether it is a material like a marble plate, or a canvas whose surface I transform into smooth or grainy, and I give them a new destination, from tabletop to become sculpture, from rectangle to the roundness, from small canvas to triptych, the light helping me to this transformation of my project artistic. No initial goal to achieve, no established order, the harmony of my work comes alone to to carry out the work, The use of traditional techniques mastered, with the support of some elements technology allow me as an artist a restitution closest to what I wished to express. Using methods learned throughout my learning, I was able to create reliefs on my oils, oils on my sculptures, additions, accumulations, hybrid works in trying to have an original vision of my work, without imitating the existing but being influenced by the great old and contemporary masters

Since the 1990s, I have had the privilege of studying under the renowned French Catalan painter and sculptor, Josep Castell. During that time, I also attended a private art school from 1990 to 1993, where I focused on painting restoration. This experience equipped me with extensive knowledge of conservation painting and various materials that are not commonly used by painters, allowing me to ensure the longevity of my own artworks. For the past 25 years, I have dedicated myself to being a full-time visual artist. I reside in a small village nestled within the historically significant Cathar region known as Lesquerde. Throughout my artistic journey, I have ventured into diverse creative disciplines, encompassing abstract painting and illustration. Concurrently, I had the opportunity to contribute to the restoration of important artworks for prestigious French museums. Since 2016, I have established my studio in London, where I primarily focus on classical landscape painting. The captivating cityscape of London has become a prominent subject in my art. In addition to painting, I have also been exploring photography for the past three years. My artistic approach revolves around working in series, influenced by the current artistic climate. For instance, I draw inspiration from the Young British School, such as the works of Hirst, for my series on supernovae. I also explore abstract art influenced by the French School, particularly the Support/Surface movement. Moreover, I have been delving into character portrayals within abstract landscapes in my latest series. However, I also engage in traditional painting, encompassing portraiture (both people and animals) and landscapes. In my creative process, nothing happens by accident or uncertainty. Every aspect of my work is intentional, akin to black ink solidifying in the air, forming intricate patterns as it interacts with the currents. My paintings encapsulate a sense of approximate descent, a fall shaped by the chance that bestows harmony upon them. While acknowledging the influence of Delaunay, I incorporate disruptive elements like colorful circles into my artwork. I also draw inspiration from the symbolic colors of Boleslas Biegas, the forms of Poliakoff and Andre Lanskoy, and many other artists whose works I have closely studied in my studio. Additionally, the reliefs of Zao Wou Ki and the abstraction found in the paintings of Roger Edgar Gillet have profoundly impacted my artistic development.
