About The Artwork
Based on years of abstract sketchbook drawings, this was completed as a demo piece in a number of - the artist's - abstract painting courses over several months in 2019. Strips of mount card were fixed to the painting panel, then several layers of acrylic applied. The final look is organic and soft toned, but with significant visual depth. The title refers to an Egyptian village that sits on one of the 'Cataracts of the Nile' which is the site of the Abu Simbel temples.
