About The Artwork
We surrender to the darkness and plunge into the abyss as the light washes over us. A multi-layered abstract piece with a touch of impressionist brushwork. Paint knife strokes help add untextured smooth strokes to the piece, whilst the brushwork adds texture and depth. The layered shades of teal, turquoise and blue elevate the idea of the abyss. The artist wanted to depict it as a living being, with the two circular shapes synonymous to the eyes. The lighter warmer colours such as pink, help add a sense of peace, which is the surrender/abdication part of the piece.
