"Activating the Rainbow Body" is the first completed painting in 2017. There is so much symbolism coming out of this that the meditative effect of this painting is incredibly strong. Of course, I had not idea what I was getting into when I started this piece. I thought is was going to be about creating a repetitive pattern over 3 panels which was where the challenge seemed to be for me as an artist, because frankly, I'm an impatient perfectionist who does not possess skilled drafting abilities. I thought it was just a chance for me to sit and get comfortable being uncomfortable. And, this process was uncomfortable. I had seen a beautiful pattern on a dress in a TV show. It was this pattern I was trying to remember and recreate to the best of my ability. I would watch that 3 minute scene with the dress on Netflix, over and over. trying to capture the colors I thought I saw. The shapes. I would watch. I would sit and mentally memorize. I would dream. I would paint one simple layer on the canvases and walk away for days, trying not to rush. It was torture. I could not capture what I thought I saw. So, I let it go. I just tried to make it look like how it "felt" to me. That's when the rainbow started to appear. At this point a few months had gone by since I had seen "the dress." I learned I needed to let that go, and it was just an inspired spark. In the meantime I had started a series about metaphysical teachings that I had found fascinating. Listening to the show, painting my rainbow and then suddenly the two came together when they started talking about "The Rainbow Light Body." Tibetan buddhists believe that our ultimate state of enlightenment is the Rainbow Light Body. That when we have moved through all the levels of karma we can activate this state for ourselves. This is what they are always moving to, always striving for. This is when my painting takes over and shows me what it has been trying to be if I would just get out of the way. Suddenly where there was no symbol, it would appear. It happened when I hit a wall of frustration and didn't like my pattern. I said "f*%$ it" and let my paint brush jump right into the middle of the rainbow. A face appears - wearing the symbolic pinecone hat that symbolizes our pineal gland, also known as the third eye in the brain. the face shows a being activating it's own rainbow body. Next, above the being's head a rainbow lotus appears. The lotus symbolizes rebirth, the rising from a dark place into the light, in this case being reborn into the rainbow light body. The final symbol to appear is the "Om" symbol. Slightly out of frame, the most prominent part of the symbol showing is the little tail which represents our "dream state" - our experience of the world without being fully awake or asleep. Right next to that tail is the lower semi-circle which represents our conscious state and our experience of the 5 senses. I think the reason the "Om" showed up this way is a secret key: the merging of these two states in ourselves. The painting comes with a channeled transmission about it's personal message. This painting is ready to hang and has the option of being hung in horizontal pieces (as shown) or hung vertically. Channeling the work (connecting to Source energy and allowing it to move through me) is by far my favorite and the most satisfying way to create art. Many times channeled writing is also attached to the paintings in some form, either hidden under the paint medium I use, written directly on the back of the piece, or attached in a sealed envelope to the back of the piece. These messages are channeled from Higher Entities and often intended only for the artwork's owner. My methods for channeling are clairvoyance, clairaudience, direct channeling and dream work. The dream work is one of my favorite methods because when I am experiencing a block or am challenged by a facet of the piece my dreams actually show the piece being painted with coaching and instruction.
