Adam and Eve" is the work with the largest dimensions of 205 x 202 cm. in the planned selection of works for the "Elsewhere" exhibition. My interest in this biblical subject appeared at the beginning of my career as an artist, when I was still pursuing academic painting and the masterpieces of the old masters of the Proto-Renaissance, Renaissance and Classicism had a great influence on me not only in the choice of subjects, but in the choice of the means and materials for recreation. After a while, when I completely changed my pursuits in art and moved from realism to abstract art, I again needed a certain quote taken from art history, as a kind of continuity, and because I like to mix real with unreal, past and present, decorative with graceful, spatial and flat. This ancient plot of Adam and Eve appeals to me with the ultra-naturalness of the very act of man's creation. God created Adam from clay, and then Eve from his rib, which is the part closest to the human heart. "And the man said, Behold, this is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman, because she was taken from man." The present composition of the painting is centered on the images of Adam and Eve as the two beginnings in the human race and expressing life, its cyclicality and ephemerality, because after their expulsion from Paradise, having already known good and evil, they became mortal and sinful. Adam and Eve implemented in a modern pictorial interpretation hint at the questions of today's reality, about the equality between the sexes, the problems of identity, the theme of love, harmony and the interrelationship of man with nature. The treatment is a mixture of the classical traditions of painting with Chinese ink, acrylic paints in places going towards pop art colors and the use of a collage of textile fabrics

freelance artist, e-mail: larisailieva7@gmail.com Larisa Ilieva lives and works in Paris, France and Sofia, Bulgaria. « I like to travel in the history of art, to inspire and enrich my artistic research. Using the same language composed by previous artists, I want to develop it and release my creation against the clichés established. The mixture of images already existing in art with contemporary sensibility is the basis on which I try to build my own territory in art. Realizing a game of different aesthetic vibrations, my conception opens to new overlays and bridges between real and abstract, decorative and picturesque. I prefer details and fragments that I make with oriental precision. At the beginning of my work my compositions emerge from the chaos of untreated pure colors, which then give birth to a harmony of new nuances and forms that are organized in unity. The black line is a very important thing in my works, because it has the function of reinforcing the intensity of the painting, which begins to shine like on the stained glass window. When I paint, I always fall into a kind of contemplation of my world of fairy creatures and sacraments. The themes of love, harmony, beauty, eternity remain close to my nature. I prefer to work with acrylic because it is very well combined with most techniques such as collage, oil, watercolor, ink, pastel. I like working with these techniques quite varied, because they are complementary and affect my sensitivity. At the moment, I am happy to use the combination of acrylic and Indian ink. This allows me to obtain in my works a different structure of the surface. Some areas seem hyperactive, others vibrate according to the light, while others overflow. »
