I received news of my nephew having poisoned himself with alcohol at 32 years old. That evening I painted this piece which I titled "Addiction." I wanted to create a piece that would be as astonishing as the news of his condition was. I want the viewer to see the intensity, the movement, and especially the eyes. The piece is a bold, stirring image. The face represents many things beyond my nephews close call with death. The piece should evoke strong emotions. If you are looking to create a statement . . . this is your piece. The eyes will follow you around the room if you look closely!

I am a full time artist living in Scottsdale, Arizona. In 2008 I was diagnosed with head-neck cancer. After completing my treatment with cancer I realized that this life is so fleeting. Here today, gone tomorrow. That became very apparent to me and my life began to change. Although I have been creating art for years, it was the cancer that propelled me into creating more and more pieces. Pieces that were of the highest quality. Having been at deaths door, I fully understand the frailties of this world and of my own existence. So today, I set out to paint or sculpt or draw something that I may share with the world. For today may be the last day of my life, one never knows.
