About The Artwork
The inspiration for this painting was my studio itself, once the lights are off, and it's only illuminated by the streetlights outside. It becomes a bit magical, like a world of possibilities opens up once the day is over. Also, it plays with ideas of order and disorder, things neatly piled together on one side, and coming apart on the other - this to me is the depiction of the creative process.

A painter through and through, and sometimes my paintings move off the frame into the space, onto the walls, incorporating other objects, or the architecture. What surrounds me influences what I paint. After having spent 5 years in a prairie town, and even a studio surrounded by farmland and huge sky, I have recently returned to Montreal, where the busier streets and mounds of snow are my current strongest influences.
