About The Artwork
This is my third and final painting dedicated to Van Gogh and his self-portraits. There is humor in this piece, but it is also darker than the original. I wanted to focus on the emotional pain and turmoil the Dutch artist must have felt on painting a self-portrait when he had self-harmed himself. So I brought out the darker elements in my version than Van Gogh's. It is an oil painting on gallery wrapped canvas, the edges painted black, wired and ready to hang.
