After the Storm Painting

This painting was inspired during a weekend trip in Northern California a few months after my sister had died. It was stormy and rainy. We took a walk in a park. As we walked under the dripping trees, it was dark and cold, but bright spots shone through. This matched the grief I had been living through in the past year. My grief did not lift, but it lived in every landscape I passed through. Yet, I am surviving. When back in the studio, I became angry at my canvas and started flinging paint over my last creation. Out came lovely strokes that became the expression of my criss-crossing feelings. The storm in the landscape reiterated the storm in my heart.
