About The Artwork

My paintings I offer at Saatchiart I summarize under the title "home". I work with photo albums of my own family, with photographies that I get from clients or with photos that I purchase. Many of the works which are included in this series I draw in oil on burlap. Burlap is a very raw material and I think it fits well to illustrate a time that no longer exists. Because I´m interested in every person´s attitude, it´s charisma and it´s setting I work a long time on every detail. I got the photo that served as a template for this picture from the same friend who lent me the photo that made up the picture "memento mori". The picture was taken in 1912. The child at the table was the grandmother of my friend and it is also the woman holding the baby in my picture "memento mori", Breslau 1944. In this picture I am fascinated by the seriousness with which the people were photographed. Which is mainly due to the fact that taking pictures meant a lot of effort and preparation. The garden chairs I embroidered with wool.
