Inspired by G. Seurat's "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte", Afternoon in the Park hopes to inspire thoughts of bourgeois leisure activities of the pre-WWI Europe and the underlying, slow demise of the Enlightenment's remains.

Artist Statement: I avoid full abstraction but rather prefer to build on a narrative. Narratives which change and evolve as the visual story reveals itself. Layers painted over layers, attacks and retreats, questions without answers. Books, music, theatre, history and life all provide inspiration, allowing a work to be what it tells me it wants to be. The work must be free to be what it is within its own universe. On its own terms. I work primarily on heavy board or wood with acrylic paint but do include elements of collage.
