About The Artwork

According to the dictionary, alchemy is defined as a medieval chemical science and speculative philosophy aiming to achieve the transmutation of the base metals into gold, the discovery of a universal cure for disease, and the discovery of a means of indefinitely prolonging life. The painting was created by applying layers of gold and blue acrylic paint with a top layer of an opaque beige. The forms moving across the canvas are reminiscent of botanical plants and naturalistic shapes. “Alchemy” is part of Robin Ballard’s “Elements” series where she explores ways to visually interpret chemical elements, and naturally occurring phenomena. It is stretched on a frame and is easy to hang.
