About The Artwork

Idea: Those who have not attained Satori on the 29th day of hard drinking do not know what alcohol is. Only after a week of concentrating on your drink you get to know its taste. Only after two weeks, when you can’t remember how long you’ve been drinking, you step a little closer to Zen. Only after three weeks you sit in a half filled tub, and then your girl comes in. She askes what you want, and you send her to buy another bottle. It’s only on the 29th day of drinking, when you no longer understand where you are, who you are, and who is with you, you are the closest to understanding what alcohol is. Description: In this piece, I tried to describe all my drinking experience. All of it as it is. When you drink, you lose the skill of critical thinking. It gets harder to see things objectively. But what is objective reality? In binge drinking, you catch Satori and see things that you could not see while being sober. Alcohol becomes your friend. It’s your mate that constantly pleases you with new meanigs and new realities... But this is a codependant friendship. And as for me, I do my best to stay away from it. --- Original art by Sergey Es from his early works. This painting on paper is coated with special varnish preserving the vividness of the pigments. Each corner has a small hole for pins. The painting needs to be framed under glass for hanging on the wall. This painting is unique. The artwork will be delivered carefully packed in a tube.

I’m an outsider artist, working in Art Brut style in my own way, which I call psychoart. In my works I explore reality, thoughts and ideas, passing them through the prism of my vision, partly formed by the disease - schizophrenia. The main subject I work with is the transformation of images, concepts, ideas, forms and meanings in the consciousness and unconscious of an individual whose thinking is qualitatively and fundamentally different from the generally accepted standards and norms. I explore the influence of my mental characteristics on understanding processes such as art, creativity, and the search for meaning. The process of creation in my work differs from the classical one in that it is controlled by the periphery of the unconscious or by something or someone, but not by me. I do not work on artwork in the ordinary sense, as other artists do, I do not select colors, I do not build a composition. I ask the Universe a question and get an answer in the form of an image, which I then transfer to the canvas. Often the view comes in a dream or half-sleep. I do fine art with children suffering from mental disorders and diseases. In our society, mental illness is something shameful, although it is as tragic as cancer, for which the patient is not guilty. I try to change the attitude of the established majority opinion to this issue.
