ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Alegria, painted in acrylic, in 2013, in which the artist wasn't committed with rules or ideas, what allowed him try new technics. In this way, he let the paints drain from the top of canvas controlling the amount of paint he would drain. This is a kind of contemporary Tarashikomi technique, meaning "dripping in". This is a Japanese painting technique, in which a second layer of paint is applied before the first layer is dry. In this particular case, the artist applied numerous layers of paint onto the canvas. For more than a decade, SAFE Art has been using free and spontaneous brushstrokes to create a language of its own, whose central objective is to capture on screen the spontaneous beauty of art as an object of contemplation. São Paulo based artist, SAFE Art (b.1979) has been developing his unique style over the past years.Self-taught artist, he is heavily influenced by japanese woodblock prints, expressionist artists like Monet and Cézanne, in his early career. His favorite contemporary artists include Damien Hirst, Ai WeiWei, Yayoi Kusama and the famous german artist Gerhard Richter.
