Painting: Gesso, Oil, Chalk on Wood.
To me, last year's very discovery was a new technique of painting. Intended as an opening performance for the production of four panel paintings about the physical and phenomenological aspects of hiking, touring and saving our world, I dragged a well primed wooden panel along next village's asphalt road.
Then—I didn't stop, dragged it to the local cider press and worked out something ancient about the helper there, a good man, a mythological figure, a relief, a wonderful work. Alexis—Greek for helper—is his name.
The painting is age-old and new, reduced and dense, one of my favorites.
