Sandra Stanionytė is internationally known as a multidisciplinary artist whose works range from performance art to painting. As Stanionytė works with multiple disciplines, she does not simply separate them more so she fuses them. As it can be seen in her paintings – they pulsate with physical expression, strokes create performance-like energy and a vast array of gestural meanings. In some cases, she implements words into her canvases to create a new layer of meaning, new keys in trying to decipher her works. Her paintings carry explosive energy that can only come from an inner world and deep contemplative nature of utilizing one’s emotions and converting them all into pieces of art. Using her own body in performances she in a way extends it and puts it onto her paintings, leaving a unique, personal and energetic mark. While looking at Stanionytė’s work one can easily spot the flowing, transformative nature with which she not only imposes her own views on art but materializes it in a different and ever-changing, dynamic manner.
