About The Artwork
The Western Cape has a rich biosphere of many different plant species settled in a valley called "The Little Karoo" between the Swartberg Mountains and Outeniqua Mountains which is a semi arid landscape with some plants that only occur in these regions. I'm really thinking of doing a series featuring this Mountainous biosphere with it's aloes and succulents and shrubs. This specific root through the Prince Albert Pass took us right into this valley on a cloudy misty day creating a depth and scale that is hard to describe in words. Done in oil on canvass board.
