Alone Again Painting

Alone again is inspired by journeys to the sea which in Summer in Perth is a few times a week at least .This image was originally the ocean the sky and a lone sea sponge with a recent surfer added to give a sense of the vastness of nature and the punyness of man. I hope viewers will enjoy the epic quality of the ocean and be transported to the imagined seascape remembered from many visits over decades to the coast. I chose this subject because growing up in Auckland I was surrounded by nature and beaches and being a resident in Perth has triggered this memory probably an element of nostalgia for my childhood. I wanted to try a large scale oil painting and the liquid ocean seemed an ideal place to explore that idea.
