About The Artwork

This is what ambient techno visually represents, for me. A limited colorpalette with a cloudy feel to it. The black shape in the back is made of oilsticks and the two main shapes emerges from the acrylic wash. On top is mark makings from oilpastel.

Morten is a Norwegian artist who creates abstract paintings using acrylic and oil. In his works, color, shape, and composition takes center stage. Born in 1987, Morten executes a unique style that draws inspiration from abstract expressionism, colour-field- and hard-edge painting, graphical design and the interplay of digital and analogue mediums. Music has played a significant role in Morten's life, and his artwork reflects this. He aims to evoke the same emotional response that one feels when listening to a favorite song, whether it grows on you or produces an instant rush. Morten wants to connect with his audience by eliciting similar emotions through his artwork. From his background in music production, Morten translates much of this experience to his current process. He is also fascinated by how the brain interprets reality and how this phenomenon is reflected in the world of abstraction. Morten's process involves many steps, using water and pigments to intuitively work the painting around on the canvas and after that, sketching on digital mediums and transfering the sketch back on to the canvas. Finally the intution takes over again as he adds additional layers consisting of acrylics and oil. Through his art, Morten seeks to convey his unique perspective on the world and invite viewers to share his vision. IG: mortenbhaga Web: mortenhaga.com
