Thistles are pouring out Their hearts at sunset In a liquid honey scent. I enjoyed dyeing and printing vintage silk and linen with leaves and grasses collected during many of my nature walks. I hand-sewed fabric pieces together and mounted them on canvas. Vintage silk and linen are married beautifully in this collage as the silk plays with the daylight all the time, and the linen absorbs the light but emphasizes the delicate texture of the surface. The contrasting textures offer a wonderful tactile and sensual experience. The piece is minimally highlighted with a few touches of acrylic and metallic ink. I sealed the surface with non-gloss acrylic sealer to prevent natural dye effects from fading and to protect the delicate fabric. Fabric collage extends to the sides wrapping the canvas. Ready to hang.
