Angel de Amor circa 2024 is my most immediate follow up to my previous listing and upload here at Saatchi Art, Danseur en Bleu circa 2023 (which had previously sold at the nonprofit, Bee Cave Art Foundation just west of Austin). In both I was determined to build a painting of colors and textures, evoking both strength and tenderness. One carries the exuberance of movement, and the other the exquisiteness of stillness. But I only consciously began with wanting a dynamic of color and texture anchored with a female form. The rest, how they diverge, and how they merge, was just how it worked out. Maybe there was a plan, but I sure wasn't consciously privy to it beforehand, lol! Rather it all just emerged and visibly worked out that way; and believe me, I nearly wrecked each piece several times as I struggled to make these feelings in paint work. Though one of the extra descriptive pictures for Angel de Amor shows it with frame, it is just an inexpensive yet nice standard size that, as an example, suggests how this painting might benefit from the right frame more so than a lot of my work. Because of the many light glazes and tints, on a light color wall the image's edges melt away. Not a bad thing if preferred, but generally, I think Angel de Amor benefits from natural light, and possibly a border. The glazing is numerous and varied enough, the colors will shift, recede and appear depending on the light and one's angle of view. Though I have lots of figure work available and in-progress ( and in mind ), Angel de Amor is of a style and expression that takes me some time to "work out" what it is I'm feeling and trying to emotionally express in this style; but in time, little by little, glaze by glaze, I want to have more 🙏 😊 note added 01.26.24 - next i think i'll post 2 watercolors from about 2021 that've lingered in my mind as something i couldn't do with acrylic or oil, but, with Danseur en Bleu and Angel de Amor, i may be beginning to get there....

032624 update - My wife and I are blessed to have found a new address here in Austin that'll keep us close to our youngest grandchild as the start of middle school begins later this year in August. The next month will be a full time of sorting and relocating, so in the interim, I'll concentrate on uploading new selections of recent paintings plus some photos from our visit to Vermont late last year 🙏 Below is my original profile info; thanks so much for visiting! 🙏❤️ About me Now 73 years ago, and first remembering painting in 2nd grade at Memorial Elementary in Houston, it's time for me to organize my work, and maybe reveal to myself what it is I've been so content to have worked at creating all these decades. Thus my goal here at Saatchi Arts is as much to reveal myself to myself, as to hopefully, coherently, introduce myself to you ☺️
