About The Artwork

This is the second peony I have completed, so it's called: 'Another Peony'. I have always loved the ruffled beauty of a peony. From early bud to bursting with pedals in when in full bloom, what a lovely flower! When I paint these showy blooms I feel I become a part of them as I try to capture the velvety feel, the subtle variations of soft color, the beads of heavy dew drops. I rely on close up photographs for reference and greedily search for images to collect for future works. I hope viewers will fall in love with this peony and watch it bloom on their own wall. It was painted using Acrylic Heavy Body paint as a medium on a premier traditional profile cotton canvas of 7/8" depth. Packed for box shipment using acid-free archival tissue paper, corner protectors and plastic sheeting, enclosed in bubble wrap with foam board for support.

I am a self-taught contemporary realist painter in both oil and acrylics. I currently live in the Cincinnati area after a recent move from Chicagoland. I began drawing as a child and continued on into adulthood. It wasn't until I became disabled in later life that I turned to painting for a creative outlet. In a few years, I began to display and sell my work through online galleries. My paintings reflect scenes from a life time of midwestern living. Vistas of windswept fields, shorelines, and country roads compete with the finite detail of a single flower or the unabashed closeup of the everyday. Light reflections, shadows and shade are a recurrent theme. Although damage from RA has severely limited my range of motion, I continue to paint whenever possible. I hope someday to participate in local art events and exhibits..
