APRES LE BAIN Painting

Karine WAGENER is a French painter who was born in Paris, and works there in her studio. In her very close portraits with bright, immediate forms, the artist poses flat areas of vivid colors that collide, free, bold, sometimes biting or sour. Although she often starts from photographs, she recomposes the frame to its own way and metamorphoses them through the sensuality of the oil. She then moves away from the glossy paper and advertising posters to fit into the portrait painting tradition.
