About The Artwork

In April it already becomes warm during the day despite the still quite cold nights and nature rapidly begins to grow. Bright green fresh grass quickly covers the ground, while the first shoots and buds appear cautiously on the trees. The worship cross of the village of Dyakova is located on the way to the temple from the Kashirskaya metro station. The village was founded in 1237, in 1960 it became part of Moscow, the worship cross was erected in 1980. And already in 1988 the village was evicted and destroyed, with the exception of a few houses. But the cross is still standing. On the cross the inscription reads: Bow down to the ancient land of our ancestors, remember them in your thoughts. Exhibitions: 2015 “The Artist’s Palette. Simon Kozhin. History and Modernity" in the Atrium Exhibition Hall of the Moscow State United Art Historical-Architectural and Natural Landscape Museum-Reserve "Kolomenskoye". (Moscow)

1979 Born in Moscow. Committed to the Russian realistic school, graduate of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, he aspires for absolute fidelity in reproducing the reality.I am driven by the desire to do this very kind of creative activity, one which would tell the truth about the surrounding world, Simon says, Any reproduction is subjective indeed, but I do hope that my painting is close to nature and harmony. I do what I am interested in, what I believe in. Thus I try to find unusual motifs, themes, I travel a lot, read a lot, watch a lot.The artists range of interests is wide: historical picture, still life, landscape, illustration. Unusual is his approach to solution of each new canvas, no formulas, nothing typical. Some canvases appeal at once by the consummate craft, fullness of colour and light, and feel. Others require focused attention, contemplation, rational approach.
