About The Artwork

Although I am known as a BBC TV Antiques & Art presenter, one of my passions is painting. Description and inspiration: The term 'Art Deco' first appeared in 1925 at the Paris Arts and Decorative Fair of that year, but the style had been developing for several years. Bright colours, geometric shapes and lavish ornamentation sum up the style and it is as fresh and modern today as it was almost a hundred years ago. Here in my painting is a fabulous Art Deco walnut display table I once owned and very much regret selling! I have modeled both the pieces of porcelain on the designs of Clarice Cliff, one of the most fascinating, influential and unique characters of the Art Deco period. davidharperartist.co.uk
