Painting, Acrylic on Canvas
Size: 40 W x 60 H x 1 D in
This classical madonna was inspired by the real life flapper, Myrna Darby, one of the Ziegfield Follies girls from the 1920s. She was described as being the sweetest and kindest of all the girls, and she tragically died at the age of 21. It is painted, ironically, on reclaimed canvas from the local Ulta cosmetics store awning.

I am currently working on a series titled, "I Just Don't Read Like I Used To," in which I cut text from classic literature to create characters, authors and others. It is a commentary on the many ways technology and pop culture have impacted our relationship with books.
