About The Artwork

On Isle C, Afro-Caribbean are Dutch and some of them feel like such and actually are, but others think that they are still slaves and struggle for freedom and independence, which made Suriman in a third world country. In the houses, you can see a mix of styles between which there are Noveau art objects and eclectic combinations are part of your culture. These objects speak of a moment when they were really proud to be Dutch citizens. But today many politicians and citizens insist on the opposite, that despite having the coin with the queen's face and the Dutch Navy, they still feel that they live on the island of free slaves.

https://www.pablodiazcarballo.com/ Pablo Díaz is an international contemporary artist born in Caracas and now living in the USA due to a self-imposed exile forced by the persecution and harassment from the socialist regime. Pablo has focused his work on a concept that he calls “The House of the Inner Being” or "The house of the Mind" which explores on the state of our intangible interior house or body and is reflected physically in the form of a structure. Pablo Diaz’s style has been inspired by San Francis of Assisi and artists like Giotto di Bondone, Rembrandt, Duchamp, Andy Warhol, J. Beuys and Joseph Kosuth. He began to apply the concepts of his painting through the Expanded Concept of Art, Conceptual Art, music and audiovisual techniques with a program that he designed to expand the minds of the five thousand children that he that he taught for twenty years.
