Artichokes Painting

Artichokes are a species of thistles that, when left to mature, develop into beautiful, purplish-blue flowers. I had bought some artichokes at the food market and attempted to run the experiment. Unfortunately, the flowers never developed. Of course, they need the whole plant to provide the flowers with nutrients and all the hormonal signalling that governs the growth of the inflorescence. Hence, the still life turned out to be less colourful than it might have been. Still, the exercise in capturing the scales of the artichoke was good to attempt, as was the slightly cloudy water in the vase.
