The painting "The Artist and the Model" 70 * 100 cm, 1997, was painted in November, at the same time when the painting with trees was painted, the trunks of which grasp an island resembling a palette with their roots, their crowns are dense, the water of the river in a sharp rhythm of waves, and the sky is full of dynamics and light. It is an improvisation on my canvas, written two years earlier. It was necessary to mention this because as "The Artist and the Model", like as picture with trees was written on a good rise. After I finished this work, the recession resulting from the work was unpleasant, because I was devastated by this work as well as by all the months of the past year. The painting was painted according to a drawing, more precisely, a sketch in ink from 1994, underpainting. Throughout 1997, I was working on portraits, painting from nature. It was partly a "three-layer painting" with a rather difficult for me expression of the inherent, partly inexplicable words, that has to do with the person who agreed to help me in my work, in the interpretation of the resulting paintings that have turned into painting. I wanted to joke, - Maybe I'm tired of a job that is responsible for me, because work was associated with people who, in addition, treated me well. I think that while working on the "portraits" the task was to tell about a person, and not about who was in front of me. I do not pretend to this, sins I am outside of that sense. I do not find any other reason for creating the painting "The Artist and the Model" - a picture-joke.
