Aruba Stamps 2016: Summer Olympic Game 2016 Painting

This was my assignment for designing 4 stamps and FDC for 2016. DESCRIPTION Design Assignment : 4 stamps - “Olympic Games 2016” Inspiration and concept: Colors of 5 rings of the Olympic symbol and games that Aruban Olympic team participates. Style of the painting is Semi-abstract. Designing 4 stamps, I selected the 3 games (Synchronized Swimming, Swimming, and Sailing) which Aruban Olympic team will play, to honor their participation to the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, and 1 Olympic Flame sitting on the abstract cauldron. I wished to create the 4 stamps which represent 4 colors (Red, Blue, Green, & Yellow) of the Olympic rings (besides black) ; however, as all 3 games I selected (besides the Olympic flame stamp) from Aruba team participates are water sports, as you can see that I could not fulfill my wish using red, green, blue, yellow, and black….. Instead, I used the colors in lettering & denomination numbers to distinguish the stamps, and I tried to use at least 4 Olympic ring colors within each stamp, and here are the descriptions of 4 stamps: 1) Postal Stamp (Red/Magenta) : Denomination – 100c Synchronizing Swimming Wave in the center represents reflection of swimming pool water in abstract colors, and the 6 figures are the synchronizing swimmers in their synchronicity and elegance. 2) Postal Stamp (Green/Emerald Green) :Denomination – 130c Swmming The background color of swimming pool water and splash of water are much more transparent than the Ocean water of the sailing stamp. …… Used Green color for the swimmer to present green ring color. 3) Postal Stamp (Blue/Cobalt Blue) : Denomination – 220c Sailing The background color reminds me of Ocean in Aruba. Use 5 ring colors in pastel for each boat. 4) Postal Stamp (Black/Black) : Denomination – 500c Olympic flame on the cauldron This design has all 5 colors of the five-ringed symbol of the Olympic Games. The central image is my version of the “abstract” Olympic flame instead of normal fire flame, sitting on the “abstract” cauldron. * FDC (envelope) : Digitally produced. Again, using the 5 color of the Olympic symbol. The central female figure is holding the Olympic symbol.
