About The Artwork

The painting "Attached" is part of the collection "Being Human" BEING HUMAN Anatomically incorrect view on anatomy of being human This series was mostly inspired by my mother, at least in the beginning stages of painting. When confronted with health issues in family, I couldn’t stop dreaming about blood vessels, flesh and bones and just thought a lot about what makes us human. Both our strength and the fragility of our vessels. I know very little about actual human anatomy, but I felt in control of my life while looking at histology images, microscopic scans of bones, brain scans. I became both fascinated and infatuated with these images and began collecting them. Finally, I started painting these organic forms, inspired by images of human anatomy I was looking at, but also motherhood, family bonds and love. I don’t know real science behind human anatomy and these are just my intuitive, organic, abstract interpretations of what I feel being human is. Blood, bones and cells, but so much more than that.

I create abstract organic forms through intuitive painting. By painting these abstracts, I hope to capture the essence of my subject matter and tell a story through my art. My greatest inspiration is nature and human anatomy, but also human bonds and relationships. My paintings are free-flowing and expressive. They explore the depths of emotion and the beauty of connection. I strive to capture the essence of life in all its forms. MY BACKGROUND I have been painting since my childhood and it has always been a hobby of mine. Only recently have I made the decision to share my artwork with the world. I was born and raised in Serbia, but moved to Berlin in February, 2023. My parents are art collectors, so I spent my youth surrounded by paintings, which made my passion for the art even deeper. I completed my Master studies of architecture in Novi Sad, Serbia and spent a year in Rome, Italy. I have 10 years of experience in the architecture field, as an interior designer and architect. WHY DO I PAINT? The work as an architect became too overwhelming and I fell into a long period of serious depression. During therapy, I discovered that the only thing I could do and had the will to do was painting. I began painting as a way to heal and it was my journey to self-discovery. I called my first series of paintings “Mental Health” and kept part of the collection private. My work, however, is both for my enjoyment and sanity. First and foremost, my paintings are for myself and belong to me, then to all others. By creating art, I express my emotions without having to explain them. I'm learning to accept and manage my feelings in a way that I never thought was possible. Painting has become an integral part of my self-care routine and I am forever grateful for it. I eventually became more comfortable with sharing my work with the world. I've come to understand that my paintings are a part of me and are meant to be shared with others. By connecting with viewers, I am able to express my feelings and emotions, and I hope that my paintings can help others in their own journey of self-discovery. MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUE RIPPING THE CANVAS I paint mostly with acrylics on canvas using the traditional crafts I learned from my mother and grandmother (sewing, knitting, embroidering and crocheting). When I first started painting, I had the urge to rip the canvas. After doing so I sewed it back together. It became a therapeutic process.
