Attraction Painting

“Attraction” is part of the artist's “Habitat” series, which is a celebration of trees, plants, botanical forms and animals. A selenophile is someone who is irresistibly attracted to the moon. In this painting a full moon is set against a deep blue sky. From the luminous branches of a tree, a night moth gazes towards the moon's light. “Attraction” is an acrylic painting and the artist used a pearlescent white with a red sheen. When photographed, this kind of paint appears as a pinkish tone, which is darker than when it is viewed in person. This painting works very well together with “Falling Blue”, another painting in Robin Ballard's series.
