About The Artwork
The Flow Country in the North of Scotland is remote and beautiful. The River Naver and surrounding area is the site of the notorious Highland Clearances of 18th to early 19th century where crofters were brutally evicted from the land they thought was home. Elizabeth, Countess of Sutherland thought that it would be more profitable to farm sheep on her land rather than crofters rents.
