Avoid Death in Small Doses Painting

The title of this piece comes from a Neruda poem, The original measures 9x12 and made with layers of watercolor and gold ink. The gold looks really well on prints as well. I am inspired by nature and the way colors show up on the ocean, mountains, and rivers. I live in Santa Cruz California and use all the color around me in my work. This piece is part of a series called Sharp Edges where I've been playing with triangles. I realized that I had been painting geometric abstract art for 10 years and never focused on this form. Noticing this avoidance in my work made me want to focus on pushing the boundaries of the elements I use.
