In this captivating watercolor painting, the stark beauty of nature is vividly portrayed, showcasing the frozen magnificence of Lake Baikal. The artwork captures a serene winter scene where icy mountains and the frozen expanse of the lake create an ethereal landscape. The focal point of the composition is Lake Baikal, its surface frozen solid in the grip of winter's embrace. Delicate, intricate cracks zigzag across the ice, a visual testament to the lake's transformation under the chill. The artist's skillful use of watercolors captures the translucence of ice, allowing light to play upon the frozen surface. The color palette is dominated by cool, icy hues, reflecting the frigid beauty of the landscape. Soft blue and whites mingle to recreate the hushed ambiance of a winter day on Lake Baikal. The painting transports viewers to a realm of frozen wonder, inviting them to witness the raw beauty of winter's touch on this iconic lake. The cracks on the ice and the frost on the mountains tell a story of nature's endurance, of cycles and change, and of the silent majesty that exists even in the most inhospitable conditions.

Self-knowledge is what my art gives me. I've learned to enjoy the process, that's what I like most about watercolor. I work mainly in the wet technique, because that's how watercolor shows its maximum potential. The result is always unpredictable, because the watercolor does half of the work and I like that bit of uncertainty that I can't change. I complete the painting and the painting completes me. The granularity of the pigments, the undertones, the airiness - that's why I love watercolor. I really like to experiment and paint not only with traditional watercolor tools such as brushes, but also with bags, napkins, sponges, etc. I like to paint on large formats as I feel more free to do so. The main idea of my art is to give people an opportunity to understand themselves and their attitude by looking at familiar things, to discover simple things anew. I draw on free subject matter, it's more important for me to feel what I want to depict, whether it's an apple or a street in Italy. I'm interested in exploring color combinations and their effect on people in my work. I try to capture the essence of what is being portrayed without being too detailed, leaving the viewer free to imagine. I'm inspired by the space around me, the way nature and man live together.
