About The Artwork

This picture was created on the Danish Island of Ærø on a sunny day. Ute Meyer sat on the beach and has captured the mood of a few hours in this painting. In the foreground, in addition to yellow flowers are large stones in different shades of ocher - and gray. On the left side of the picture, the sand-colored cliff is covered with green beach grass. The Baltic Sea shimmers blue - turquoise. An eye-catcher is a small red flag marking a fish trap. The sky is summery pale blue. The oil paint is applied very pastos with brushes. This gives the structures of the vegetation and water a plastic effect. The picture carrier is made of wood. A steel cable provides a secure suspension.

Ute Meyer, born December 1957 visual artist since 1999 studio in Flensburg "Painting is an expression of my joy of life and my curiosity to discover." My painting reflects my zest for life and my constant curiosity for discovery. I particularly focus on plein air painting, whether in my own garden or on the picturesque coastline of the Danish Baltic Sea. Over the years, I have developed an working method outdoors that allows me to complete large-scale canvases in a single pass, capturing the unique mood of the day. The constantly changing weather conditions and the play of light influence my painting process, slowing it down or speeding it up. Other series of works are created in the studio, including macro studies of the beach and depictions of people and animals in the landscape. In my abstract painting, experiences from my daily life serve as starting points. I use various means of expression such as oil on canvas or wood, pen and wash drawings and watercolors.
