ABOUT THE ARTWORK
I painted this picture on a warm, sunny day at the beginning of September on the beach on the Danish island of Ærø in the Baltic Sea. The sun made the oil paints supple and enabled a fluid, spontaneous working style. The turquoise blue of the sea and the green of the vegetation contrast with the magenta-colored dog rose blossoms and the red rose hips. I was able to capture the September atmosphere of an afternoon by the sea in an impressionistic way. I was inspired by the vivid color contrasts and tried to capture the clear beauty of the coastal landscape. This painting brings energy and space into a room. The canvas is hand stretched and primed several times. The edges are white. The picture is hung on a steel cable. My signature is on the front.

I have a particular passion for plein air painting, whether in my own garden or along the picturesque coastline of the Danish Baltic Sea. Over the years, I have honed a technique that allows me to complete large-scale canvases outdoors in a single session, capturing the distinct mood of each day. The ever-changing weather and shifting light significantly influence my creative process, sometimes requiring me to adjust my pace. Other series are developed in the studio, including macro studies of beaches and portrayals of people and animals in natural settings. In my abstract work, everyday experiences serve as the foundation. I utilize a variety of mediums, including oil on canvas or wood, pen and ink wash drawings, and watercolors.
