This painting was created on reinforced hard panel, beginning with a 'drag' painting background. Certain, planned accidents make this type of painting exciting. I then come back with highlights and accents. On this painting I also employed the use of tissue paper collage. This adds to the luminosity of the piece where sunlight dances across the leaves. The painting was probably inspired from all the hours spent on the grounds of the Golden Door Resort. Beautiful Japanese landscape and buildings enhance this canyon resort and bamboo seems to thrive here. All my paintings come sealed, varnished and framed in an edge hardwood, stained brown. This is quite a stunning work that would look good in a home or office lobby or museum space. It requires good lighting to enhance the sunlit effects.

Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona with three brothers. I contracted polio at age three and spent nine months in an iron lung. Had a miraculous healing and then during recovery spent hours and hours with paper and pencil provided by my mother. Studied under several artists in the Phoenix Valley including on site watercolor workshops, figure drawing and sculpture. In High School won several Gold Key awards and was a cast member for the T.V. series - Indispensables (series on youth in art). University of Arizona Fine Arts department and one semester at the Florence, Italy Academy of Art. After moving to California I built an art studio on our property in San Marcos. Studied on and off with Gifford Nicholaides in California, where we formed the Pastel Society. Married to Christina Wilson, three children and now seven grandchildren. Life is good!
