About The Artwork

“Basket of tangerines” is a work that pays homage to the natural beauty and timeless elegance of this luscious fruit. Painted with great precision and a keen eye for detail, this masterpiece exudes a contemporary realism infused with the spirit of Impressionism. The medium used is oil on canvas, which allows the artist to capture the vibrant colors, delicate textures, and the play of light on the subject matter. The bright tangerines create a vivid contrast against the deep dark of the background focusing the viewer's eye towards the center of the composition. I try to capture the nuances of each tangerine’s skin, from the golden yellows to the subtle red, conveying their unique personalities and individuality. The reflection of a basket of fruits on a horizontal plane gives a additional beautiful effect to this work. Contemporary still life in realistic style. The work is painted from life on a quality 100% linen canvas with oil color of high quality The painting technique is many-layer. The edges of work are painted.

I was born in Russia and graduated from the Faculty of Art of Krasnodar State University in 1987. I have been professionally engaged in painting since 1991. Having participated in more than 30 exhibitions and Art Fair my works are now represented in private collections in Russia, Germany, Norway, Italy, Switzerland, Denmark, USA, France, Belgium, South Africa and United Kingdom. I became a member of the Union of Russian Artists in 1995 and I am a laureate of the Culture and Art scholarship of Krasnodar Region Administration. Since 2004 I live and work in Belgium. I paint still life compositions in oil. Observing solely from life I try to capture the movement of light as it reveals both the object and the surrounding. The search for balance and harmony in the composition is vitally important for me. The objects in my still lifes can be often very usual and simple: jugs, fruits, bowls or flowers. It’s wonderment about things and visual information that l want to strengthen in my works. I invite the viewer to re-enchanting by the world around us, to discover the short but really precious moments of life. Seizing the incredible beauty of life and is my deepest vocation. The traditional Dutch 17th century painting has inspired me because of its delicate and balanced approach to light, shadow and color nuances. I do mainly use a multi-layered technique. Even if their process is slow and complex, it makes it possible to accentuate light effects, various textures and, last but not least, transparency.
