About The Artwork
Part from the “In The Moment Collection”: A collection born in that unique moment when the world paused, a gentle space that gave me time to appreciate and let life be. These new portraits and landscapes are the result of my personal experience being quarantined in the countryside. A time when I truly had the space to feel deeply: deep sorrow, deep solitude, deep fear, deep loss; but above all deep joy and deep appreciation. Appreciation for the simple joys, for finding happiness in the everyday moments and the simplicity of things that are seen with new eyes. The paintings come from the understanding that I am able to let things and life BE. I can fully be in the present moment and connect with this beautiful gentle feeling of love and calmness. I learnt that I can let things flow and appreciate them as they are. You can see this idea in my new portraits where I replaced harder outlines with flowing paint that slowly -layer by layer- builds the figure. What makes this new collection most different from my previous ones is the appearance of abstract landscapes; a subject I had never visited before. Suddenly painting landscapes makes so much sense, I felt the need to pay homage to the space that had allowed me all of this reflection. The mood of the portraits came from the feeling of stillness allowed by the landscape and the contemplation of the scenery; it comes from that feeling you get in the presence of mountains and oceans: of the dynamic stillness of our earth. I´m a self taught artist, I have painted and created all of my life, I honestly can't remember a time in my life were I didn't! I had my first solo art show in 2004 and I've been pursuing art solely and formally since 2017; since then I've come to terms about being self taught, and I feel proud and happy with my progress and with the quality of my work.
