About The Artwork
There have been many important animals in my life, one of these is Yakky, my horse, which unfortunately I was forced to sell in 2007. Yakky and I were together for about 5 very difficult years, the years in which I (then a teenager) was constantly abused by a man close to me. This work was born in December 2020, when the I began the search for my beloved former horse, sold in 2007, with the intention of buying it back and letting him spend the last years of his life free together with me. After a very long search, made up of many moments of hope and subsequent disappointments, the traces of the horse have disappeared, after being sold in Germany in 2017. It would have been very nice to reunite with Yakky and thus save a positive part of that terrible story, but having to accept that this would never happen, so I decided to make this portrait to talk about my horse, because I will never forget him and I will never forget the injustice we have suffered.

Irene Meniconi was born in Florence in 1986, then moved, still a child, in the Chianti shire immersed in nature that will always be the foundamental element of inspiration for his artistic creation. After graduating at the “Accademia delle Belle Arti” in Florence, the artist has collaborated with numerous companies from different sectors: from fashion, to food and wine, to publishing, interior decoration for professional offices, public and private spaces. At the same time she carries on her personal artistic work creating mixed media paintings, the result of the studies and of her artistic career brought along in years. She exhibited his works taking part in solo and group exhibitions in many Italian Galleries.
