Inspired by vintage postcards of Caribbean women, this series combines screen printed papers with watercolour to create portraits that invite the viewer to look beyond skin colour and hair type and celebrate the beauty of creole people (people of mixed heritage) the patterns on the paper combine floral with geometric representative of differing cultures.

I am primarily a watercolor and mixed media (collage) artist. My work looks at everyday life. Particularly I am interested in moments, subjects that are taken for granted and making work that gives the viewer a fresh perspective as if seeing for the first time. Using a palette of vibrant colour rendered in loose brush strokes that are then honed it by detailing, I enjoy the fluidity of watercolour which is an apt medium to use on a tropical Caribbean island such as Trinidad and Tobago where I live and work as an artist and an educator.
