I was listening to Sarah McLachlan's "Building a Mystery" as I was painting this. Remember that 1997 song? "You come out at night That's when the energy comes And the dark side's light And the vampires roam You strut your Rasta wear And your suicide poem And a cross from a faith That died before Jesus came You're building a mystery" The dark but ethereal feeling of the song felt appropriate while I was creating this little world. But according to her, the song's meaning is "...we all have insecurities to hide, and we often do that by putting on a facade...unfortunately, if we just be who we are, that's usually the more attractive and beautiful thing" That felt even more appropriate. Imagine creating a place in your mind where you can go whenever you want. A world that exists for you only, where everything you've ever wanted lies beyond the seen. Much like reading a book that you don't want to end because the world in it feels so real, so it is that I hope when I paint that world waits for the person who sees it. That's what it feels like when I paint, and learning new skills allows me to bring them into reality. It's like painting my dreams. ====== This original artwork is not framed and does not include hanging hardware, so you're free to frame it or not per your preferences.

I'm a left-brained analytical human and right-brained creative. I've always been creative and studied design in college, then put my art supplies away for many years. When I found some time freedom in my coaching business, I picked up my art tools again, and this time, I couldn't stop. I keep painting, almost obsessively, feeling like I'm rediscovering everything like it's brand new. I'm a St. Louis, MO native but have lived in many places - both coasts and the south, and now reside in beautiful Tampa, Florida.
