About The Artwork

My paintings are creative snapshots, sometimes in a strong and very colorful visual language, sometimes very reduced. It depends on the mood and is already apparent in the process of creation. Contemplation versus power. I need both and so one does not exclude the other - on the contrary. They fertilize and multiply. I work in layers, use raw linen and do not prime it. Regardless of whether something abstract or one of my creatures is created, the subjects undergo a process of change through addition and omission, which often extends over a long period of time; the longer and more intensively I look at my paintings, the more possibilities arise. New things are allowed to appear on the picture’s surface. By adding and taking away, dislocations emerge - this is how the depth of a picture is created. Much can only be guessed, felt, or sensed in retrospect. It is there and it is not. That's exciting and sometimes irritating at the same time. Thereby I love working in series and i am obsessed with colors. Meditatively, I work myself into the paintings, finding just the right moment. No object is like another - the arrangement and use of colour, the use of texture, the condensation, all these different and never repetitive details, - therein lies my interest. These series suggest aspects beyond the visible, revealing moods and feelings: humor, skepticism, happiness, or sadness. I am varying and transforming nuances and details, such as soft pastels that contrast with strong, pure colors. In my latest works the colors have become more vibrant—bright pink, orange, and also neon colors. The metamorphoses of the subjects constitute the density of my paintings. Their ambiguity refers to the experience of contingency and deceptive obviousness, to the unpredictability of life and the ostensible clarity of the nature that surrounds us. My poetic counter-world is an invitation to discover, to retrace the densifications, to explore the boisterous disposition of coincidence.
